FAQs
Why is the Shire proposing to designate Jarrahdale Oval as an off leash dog exercise area?
At the Ordinary Council Meeting in December 2019, Council resolved to request a further report on the future of off-leash dog exercise areas in the Shire. Following a community survey in October 2020, of the 92 responses, 71% of respondents stated that they would like to see additional off leash dog areas within the Shire.
Does the Shire have existing off leash dog exercise areas?
Yes, Bill Hicks Reserve (designated hours each day) and Byford Bark Park.
Are there any restrictions on dogs being “off leash” at any time?
Restrictions only apply when the oval is being hired for any event, or at any time a sanctioned event is being undertaken.
When are dogs required to be “on lead” on or near the oval area?
During sanctioned events, in transit to the fenced oval area, or when wildlife is observed within the enclosed oval area (ie kangaroos).
