The Road Safety Commission (RSC) has just opened the next round of its Community Initiative Grants, offering a prime opportunity for sporting and recreation clubs to take the lead in promoting road safety. With a strong focus on young drivers aged 17-29, these grants aim to reduce the alarming rates of road trauma in this vulnerable age group.
Why Apply?
Sporting clubs play a crucial role in regional and urban communities, making them ideal spaces to share vital road safety messages. Through community events or innovative projects, clubs can actively engage their younger members and drive positive change on our roads.
Funding Opportunities:
- Up to $5,000 for community-based events
- Up to $25,000 for community-based projects
This funding provides a unique chance for clubs to develop creative, impactful programs to promote safer driving habits among young members.
Minister for Road Safety David Michael highlighted the importance of these grants, emphasizing the over-representation of young drivers in road trauma statistics and the critical role sporting clubs can play in creating safer roads.
To explore grant details and apply, visit the [RSC Community Grants Portal](https://communityconnect.rsc.wa.gov.au/community-grants-portal). Let’s work together to keep our communities safer and foster responsible driving habits among the next generation.
