What is the Youth Advisory Council (YAC)?
The Youth Advisory Council is a group of young people aged 12-24 from the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale who come together to share their ideas, give feedback, and influence decisions on matters that impact youth in the community. It is a platform for young voices to be heard and make a difference.
Who can join the YAC?
The YAC is open to anyone aged 12-17 who lives, works, or studies, in the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale. We encourage young people from all backgrounds to get involved.
Why should I participate in the YAC?
Joining the YAC allows you to have a say in shaping local programs, services, and events that affect young people in the community. It’s also a great opportunity to develop leadership skills, connect with other young people, and make a positive impact.
How can I give feedback?
You can provide feedback by filling out the online survey on our project page or attending one of our community consultation sessions. Your thoughts and ideas will help guide the direction of the YAC and the initiatives it takes on
What kind of topics will the YAC focus on?
The YAC will focus on a wide range of topics, including youth services, mental health, social inclusion, education, employment opportunities, and recreational activities. We want to hear what’s important to you, so your feedback will help set the agenda.
How often does the YAC meet?
The YAC typically meets monthly, either in person or online, to discuss ongoing projects, share ideas, and plan activities. Meeting times and locations will be flexible to accommodate different schedules

We will share updates on the YAC’s activities through our website, social media, and community newsletters. You can also subscribe to our mailing list to receive direct updates.
What happens to my feedback?
All feedback collected through this project will be reviewed and used to help shape the YAC's priorities and actions. Your input will directly influence the development of programs and services for young people in the Shire.
