Celebrating iconic landmarks and buildings

The gorgeous Kitty’s Gorge trail has also been a major drawcard for decades now.But while our natural attractions provide the Shire with a beautiful backdrop, there’s also a rich history to be found within the walls of our many historic buildings. It’s hard to turn a corner in Jarrahdale without spotting a piece of SJ history, with the likes of the Old Post Office, the Mill Manager’s House, Jarrahdale Tavern and St. Paul’s Anglican Church providing a trip down memory lane.On Paterson Street the Mundijong Tavern has been a long-standing feature, while more recently the Byford sculptures have enhanced the drive along South Western Highway.Tell us your favourite piece of local history in the comments below. -

Those like the Centrals Football Club (which won the inaugural Peel Football League premiership in 1992 before going on to win again in 1999, 2000 and 2007) and the Peel Metropolitan Horse and Pony Club (now in its 39th year) have been connecting locals through their sporting passions for decades, and play a vital role in promoting healthy and active lifestyles in SJ.To all of our wonderful community and sporting groups throughout the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, we say thank you!Do you belong to a local community group?
