Council made an official recommendation to the Metro Outer Joint Development Assessment Panel (MODAP) to APPROVE the development application for 21 Showroom Tenancies and five Fast Food/Takeaway Tenancies at Lot 806 South Western Highway, Byford during its meeting on 20 March 2023 (subject to conditions).

Background

The Shire has received a Development Assessment Panel application for a Showroom and Fast Food/Takeaway Development at Lot 806 South Western Highway, Byford. The proposal includes 21 Showroom Tenancies and 5 Fast Food/Takeaway Tenancies.

The application will be determined by the Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP), who will replace the Shire as the determining authority.

The proposal entails the following features:

  • The subject site has an area of 82,466m2;
  • The site would be developed with 21 Showroom and 5 Fast Food/Takeaway Tenancies;
  • The realignment of Wilaring Street, with the inclusion of a roundabout to direct traffic into the site or to the existing residential area to the south;
  • New access to the subject site via Dougal Street to the north;
  • Landscaping and siteworks; and
  • 699 parking bays across the site.
