What is the zoning of the subject site?
The subject site is zoned ‘Urban Development ’ under the Shire’s Town Planning Scheme No.2 and the Draft Local Planning Scheme No.3.
The proposal is considered consistent with the objectives of Urban Development Zone which encourages provision of retail commercial and mixed use facilities to service the needs of residents within the communities and integration of these facilities with social and recreational services, so as to maximize convenience.
What is the land use of the proposal?
The proposal falls within the definition of a Child Minding Centre under the Shire’s Town Planning Scheme No.2.
A Child Minding Centre is a discretionary land use in a residential zone meaning that Council, at its discretion, may permit the use.
Why is the Shire engaging on this project?
The Shire is required to engage in accordance with Local Planning Policy 1.4 – Public Consultation for Planning Matters (LPP1.4).
LPP 1.4 identifies that for any development that is likely to impact on the amenity of adjoining properties or any sensitive receptors requires a notice of the development proposal to be posted on the Shire’s website.
