Background:

The draft Marri Woodland Management Plan is the second in a series introducing a new approach to managing the Shire’s natural reserves. This series groups the reserves based on vegetation complexes into four distinct management plans, with the Banksia Woodland Management Plan being the first and the Marri Woodland Management Plan now available for community input.

Our existing management plans for natural area reserves are over a decade old and in need of updates to reflect current best practices. The draft Marri Woodland Management Plan addresses this by providing comprehensive guidelines for the management of marri woodlands. It includes detailed Action Plans specifically tailored to the twelve Shire reserves containing marri woodland, ensuring a strategic and informed approach to preserving these valuable ecosystems.

We invite the community to review the draft and share their feedback, helping us shape the future of our natural reserves.
