Why is the Shire preparing this draft Local Planning Policy?
The draft Local Planning Policy addresses the need to achieve consistency in respect of development standards for Lot 164 Yangedi Road, Hopeland. Known as Serpentine Airfield.
What does the policy require of development?
Draft Local Planning Policy (LPP 4.23) require that the development meets all planning, building and environmental health regulations and addresses bushfire mitigation issues on Lot 164 Yangedi Road, Hopeland.
When will this occur?
At planning assessment stage, it is required for the Shire to ensure that all hangars and any future development of the Serpentine Airfield meets the relevant standards. The Draft LPP 4.23 will provide a framework for this to be achieved.
What else does this LPP provide?
This policy also ensures that appropriate construction materials and scales of development take place. It also outlines how frequently hangars can be used for overnight accommodation, ensuring this site doesn’t become a makeshift short term accommodation site and addresses onsite infrastructure standards relating to water, power and effluent disposal.
