How much does the Shire spend on events and programs annually?
In the 2021/22 financial year, the budget allocation for events, programs and school holiday activities is $184,000.00.
Will the Shire stop delivering some events?
The Shire will continue to deliver a calendar of events and activities however does not wish to provide events that do not have community support or interest.
The purpose of the survey is to ensure that the events, programs and activities delivered are of interest and relevance to the community.
How does the Shire assist community groups to run events?
The Shire has a Major Event Grants scheme which provides financial assistance of between $5,000 and $20,000 to eligible community groups.
The budget allocation for this grant scheme is $75,000 in the 2020/21 financial year.
The Shire also has a General Grant scheme to provide financial assistance up to $5,000 for eligible community groups to deliver smaller events, programs, activities and/or initiatives.
The budget allocation for this grant scheme in the 2020/21 financial year is $36,000.
The Shire also offers support and assistance to community groups and event organisers in the event approval application process to ensure any events hosted within the Shire comply with relevant legislative requirements, particularly in the current and ongoing COVID-19 environment.
How will my feedback be used?
Responses will be confidential and used only for the purpose of informing a calendar of events and programs in the Shire.
The proposed calendar of events and activities will be presented to Council for their consideration.
