Youth Fest 2024: Social Story
This is a three-hour full of fun youth festival for our young people. Youth Fest 2024 - Unleash the Vibes!
This social story is for people attending the Youth Fest at Briggs Park Pavilion and Oval on Friday the 12th of April 2024 from 12pm till 3pm for ages 12 to 17.
Youth Fest is a three-hour long event run for the young people of the Serpentine Jarrahdale shire. You do not have to come for the full three hours; it is ok to come late or leave early.
It is run by the Shire’s youth team and there will be other service providers here sharing information. There will be games, inflatable fun, and live music throughout the event with some free pizza for lunch!
Where:
The Youth Fest event will be at the Briggs Park Pavilion and Oval. The address is 38 Mead Street Byford.
You can access the parking from Mead Street or Gordin Way.

Parking:
There are two ACROD parking bays across from the entrance.
There is more parking at the Serpentine Jarrahdale Recreation Center carpark, the entrance is from Mead Street.
Entrance:
All visitors can enter through main entrance. The surface is flat. The doors will be kept open, it is appropriate for walking sticks, and guide dogs. However not appropriate for wheelchairs and mobility scooters.

Welcoming table:
There will be a welcoming table inside the entrance. A volunteer from the Shire will check you in at the desk inside the entrance.
This is a photo of what the Shire volunteers will be wearing on the day. They can assist you throughout the day.
You may be given a wrist band or sticker to show you have purchased a ticket to the event. This means you can get a free item from the food vans.
Food and drink:
There is limited free options for those who have registered, otherwise you may purchase from the food vans.

Music:
There will be a DJ playing music inside the venue as well as live music played outside the venue. Some people may choose to dance to the music. You don’t have to dance.
No strobe lights will be used at the Youth Fest event. This is a photograph of where the DJ, and dance group will be!
Toilets:
Toilets are located on the right-hand side of the entrance of the venue. Please note that the toilet facilities are not accessible for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. There is also a slope going into the toilets – if needed find a volunteer to show you to toilet facilities with a flat surface.
Quiet space and headphones:
There is a quieter space if you need a break. There are bean bags for you to relax with friends. This is a picture of a Volunteer enjoying the Chill Out Space Beanbags.
There are also noise-cancelling headphones for you to borrow. You can find them in the bucket near the check in desk at the entrance.

Photography:
There will be people taking photos at the Youth Fest event.
If you don’t want to have your photo taken, please let someone know at the check in desk in the Youth Fest venue and you will be given a YELLOW wristband.
We will ask for your permission to use the photos taken for Youth Fest advertising or marketing. If you give your permission but then change your mind later, you can let us know and we can withdraw it.
