A Strategic Roadmap is essential for a library to define its mission, vision, and long-term goals. It guides decision-making, resource allocation, and development of our programs and services. This is especially important over the next decade as the Shire experiences unprecedented growth as we need to ensure the library is meeting the needs of our community and can adapt to changing circumstances.

Feedback can be provided at one of the pop up events at the library, by filling in a quick survey or by providing feedback on the YourSay SJ page.

Feedback gained from community members will be used to inform the Library Strategic Roadmap.

In addition to the traditional book lending, a range of other services are available at the library. These include:

• Digital resources – access to a wide range of eBooks, audiobooks and online databases
• Internet access – public computers and free wifi services
• Printing/copying
• 858CoLab – a coworking lab for small business owners to work, and meet like-minded people
• Community spaces – areas for reading, studying and meetings, as well as community scrabble, puzzles and newspapers
• Mobile Library Service which services the southern suburbs of the Shire, bringing books and other resources to a weekly or fortnightly meeting point
• Books on Wheels – a delivery service available to those who are physically unable to attend the library or mobile library service
• Community History Collection

Byford Library hosts a range of programs to cater for all age groups throughout the year. These include:

• School holiday activities
• Rhymetime for children aged 0-2 although all little ones are welcome
• Storytime for children aged 2-5 to build early literacy and social skills which includes a take home craft activity
• LEGO Club
• Better Beginnings – a state-wide family literacy program
• Book Bounty – a library reading rewards program for primary school children
• Random Reads Book Club
• Mahjong Mondays
• Author Visits
• Family Fun Day
• Various Adult Health Programs
